The CIOL Scottish Society is pleased to announce the first in a series of presentations and workshops scheduled for 2019.

Professor Alison Phipps, UNESCO Chair in Refugee Integration through Languages and the Arts, University of Glasgow will present on what it means to research multilingually. What difference does it make that my language(s) is/are not yours?

  • Machine Translation - A help or a hindrance to your translation career? &  The Ethics of PSI in the Scottish context - To celebrate International Translation Day 2019, Paul Kearns MCIL and Eneida Garcia Villanueva MCIL (Chartered Linguist) will be delivering two interactive workshops in MT and the Ethics of PSI respectively (28 September)

  • 'Language, place and identity in children’s bilingualism with community languages' and AGM - 
    Professor Antonella Sorace will discuss her research on bilingual children in both regional minority languages, including Gaelic, and migration languages in Scottish schools (23 November)
