In August 2017, Jiaxing Du began working at Confucius Institute for Scotland’s Schools. Apart from Chinese and English, he speaks Spanish as well, having worked at Confucius Institute at Catholic University of Santa Maria as a Chinese mandarin teacher in Peru for one year. While Jiaxing was studying for his Master’s degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages in Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, he also taught intermediate and advanced Chinese courses (reading, listening and writing) in the Institute for International Education.

Through his experience, Jiaxing has become good at applying various different teaching methods to develop learners’ interest and help them to achieve their objectives. Most of his students have been awarded a Confucius Institute scholarship for pursuing their studies in China.

Jiaxing is delighted to have been given the opportunity to work at CISS. In his view, CISS not only opened a window for Scotland and China to understand each other, but also built a bridge for cultural communication and educational cooperation between China and Scotland. He will make every effort to promote it, and he is looking forward to gaining insight into Scottish education and culture.
