Here’s the low down on the makeup of the group.
Why?
Established at the end of the last academic session, with a view to undertaking a range of work to support the development of inclusive practice in language teaching and to align with key priorities in Scottish education aimed at raising attainment for all which include the National Improvement Framework and GIRFEC. In addition, and specific to languages is Recommendation 9 in Language learning in Scotland: A 1+2 approach (Scottish Government, 2012) which states that:
Who?
A healthy mix of experienced classroom practitioners, academics and researchers with a wide range of expertise.
What?
We will make the case for inclusive practice related to language teaching, promoting a ‘Languages for all’ stance. We will populate these pages in the coming months with relevant research and a sound evidence base, as well as examples of current practice and useful resources for learners, parents and teachers.
