Bonjour Bordeaux !

Bonjour !

It was great to meet my P6/7 class at Busby Primary and I hope you all enjoyed the lesson! As we discussed in class, I will be keeping you updated via email and this blog during my year abroad.

In a few days I will be on a plane to France and beginning my year abroad. I am looking forward to it but at the same time I am so nervous! What if I miss my flight? Or if I can’t understand anyone in France? Or if I become homesick and miss my friends and family back home in Glasgow? This year I will be living and working in Bordeaux, which is in the South-West of France. Bordeaux is one of the biggest French wine-producing regions – producing about 960 million bottles of wine every year! The region is also famous for its sunny weather which attracts lots of tourists – this year it has been awarded the title of “European Best Destination 2015”!

As we discussed in class, during my year abroad my aim is not only to improve my French – but to improve yours and help you get started learning other languages! Through the project I am taking part in, 'Language Linking, Global Thinking', I will show you all the opportunities that are available to you through learning other languages such as meeting new people, making friends and being able to travel around the world.

I will keep my blog updated during my year abroad in Bordeaux and about any interesting things I do/places I visit whilst I’m away. If you have anything you’d like to ask me or like me to write about or find out for you in France then your class teacher can send me an email and I will reply as soon as I can!

Merci et au revoir ! :)
