Any teachers or lecturers who are teaching Chinese in Scotland’s local authorities, independent and community schools, colleges or universities are welcome to attend the next meeting of the SCEN Chinese Teacher Club, which will be held on Friday 10th May.

A copy of the agenda for this meeting can be found HERE, and new members are always very welcome.

The Club’s core aims are:

  • to enable teachers of Chinese to share and develop practice, both teaching methods and specifically those concerning the teaching of Chinese
  • to promote collaboration at all levels
  • to respond to the ideas of members

The next meeting will be held:

Date: Friday, 10th May 2019
Time: There will be a buffet lunch at 1.00pm, then the meeting begins at 1.30pm – finish by 3pm
Location: Confucius Institute for Scotland, Abden House, 1 Marchhall Crescent, University of Edinburgh, EH16 5HP

If you haven’t already done so, please can you send an email to lymartin@aberdeencity.gov.uk to let herknow if you are planning to attend the meeting.

There are several exciting items on the agenda, including an item about creating a textbook. At the recent SCEN event in March, SCEN offered to help to publish a book which will be given free of charge to every pupil in Scotland who is sitting N5 or Higher Mandarin, with materials that they could use, and we are hoping for volunteers to help us to write materials for this project. If you would like to volunteer for this please let Lynette know.
