Holaaaaaaaa,

So I've been here for just under a month and am loving it. I wasn't particularly excited about having to fly to an airport and then to have to take a 3 and a half hour bus since there are no central airports near the city of Logroño, where I live currently. Turns out I should have been excited because it was so beautiful I've genuinely never been so excited about being on a bus before in my life. I've attached a picture so you can see that I'm not crazy for loving the buses here. It kind of reminds me of Scotland in the sense that there is soooo much greenery as well as mountains and hills.

The flat I have is really cool and I'm sharing with two other language assistants who both teach in Logroño too. What I've noticed is how hospitable the Spaniards are. Honestly, they're some of the nicest people I've ever met and will literally do anything for you. Everywhere I go I get two kisses on each cheek and am lovingly force fed magdalenas by the older Spanish women. I love it. There's a street here called Calle Laurel and it does the best pincho in Logroño. My favourite place is called Mesón del Abuelo and they do the best pimientos rellenos de carne and another called Pulperia La Universidad and they do the nicest pulpo a la gallega. Photo attached. Apologies in advance for the people who don't like seafood.

I've started working with the Spanish pupils in the school. It's a primary school called Nuestra Señora de La Vega and I have 5 - 11 year olds and I also work in Infantil with the 3 and 4 year olds. I've never had to say "siéntate" so much in my life and I've never been asked "tienes una novia?" so much in my life either. With the younger pupils it's hard because all they do is cry. Some of them have just started school and are constantly asking "donde está mi mama" and when I say "luego, mas tarde" they just start crying more. Feel sorry for me Mrs MacKinnon.

I'll be in touch within the next few weeks with another update for you all. I'll try and get some pictures of the school and the pupils so you guys can see what it's like in school here.

Espero que estéis bien y si tenéis algunas preguntas para mi ¡avísame!

Saludos,

Lewis (Luis as everyone else calls me here)
