The Lord McConnell Lecture 2017, organised by SCEN in association with the Royal Society of Edinburgh, will take place on 18 May.

In his talk 'After 2016: What next for peace and development?' Lord McConnell will address the dramatic changes in the European Union, the foreign policy of the United States of America, and the balance between other global powers. He will speak about the role of the United Nations, the position with the Global Goals for Sustainable Development and the role of Scotland and the UK in this emerging situation.

The lecture will be of particular interest to university and senior school students.

The programme for the evening is as follows:
  • 5.30 pm Tea in the Upper Gallery
  • 6.00 pm Lecture and Discussion in the LectureTheatre
  • 7.15 pm Drinks in the Upper Gallery (- 8.00 pm)
